Bright skies were the reason for perfect conditions during this afternoon’s 40 minute long timed session for the Moto3 category.

Back on form during both days of practice was Efren Vazquez, who was recorded with the fourth fastest lap time this afternoon, but he now will even start from the front row due to his teammate’s penalty. Like the championship leader, Vazquez and his crew were able to work on good settings to his Honda machine for which the experienced Spaniard looks forward to race day at Phillip Island with confidence.

Spanish youngster Joan Mir, who substitutes injured Hiroki Ono this time, displayed great potential as future rider in the World Championship when he set the 15th fastest lap time in qualifying today but he also got a penalty due to the same reasons as Danny Kent, but Mir only lost three positions on the grid.

The most probably 2015 Moto3™ title deciding action gets underway on Sunday 1pm local time. That means an early wake-up call for all European race fans at 4am Central European time due to the vast time difference of nine hours. The race last 23 demanding laps.

#7 Efren VAZQUEZ, Grid position 3rd – 1´36.693 (14/14):
“I’m quite happy with this qualifying because foremost I did my lap time completely alone without any slipstream, which is always a help at this track. In addition, I’m also pleased because we performed better on both days of practice than last weekend in Japan. We did a really good job already this morning during FP3 as well as we kept the direction for qualifying as I got a superb feeling for the conditions and with the bike immediately. So a big thanks to my crew for their excellent work done so far this weekend. I’m confident and sure that we were able to setup the bike properly for the race, so that is the most important thing. But we just need to keep focussed and concentrated as well as we need a little bit of luck tomorrow to round up this weekend in style.”

#36 Joan MIR, Grid position 18th – 1´37.212 (8/14):
“I’m so happy because I learned so many things today, starting with this morning’s FP3 and of course the most during qualifying as I tried to take benefit from the slipstream to learn a lot from other riders who are more experienced in the world championship than me. In the end, I did a good lap time, which of course is not the best one I’m capable of, but it’s good so I’m pleased with. The target for tomorrow’s race is to continue learning and hopefully I’m able to round up this weekend in style, putting all the pressure off myself and just enjoy my ride.”
