Good start at new venue for Espargaro and Vazquez
The first day of action at the British Grand Prix produced second and third positions for Pol Espargaró and Efrén Vázquez respectively as the MotoGP/125cc World Championship returned to the historical circuit of Silverstone for the first time since 1986. The two Tuenti Racing riders completed many laps to familiarise themselves with the new layout and managed to be among the fastest throughout the session.
2. POL ESPARGARÓ, 2.15.851
“The track is really fast and great fun, it is just a shame that it is so bumpy and we will have to work as much in the suspension configuration as the overall chassis set-up. We have started on the right foot by constantly lowering our times and tomorrow, with the rubber laid down by the MotoGP and Moto2 boys, we will see where we can improve. It will be vital to keep on working on refining the bike because I am getting to grips with the whole circuit and still making mistakes in some places that are costing me time”.
3. EFRÉN VÁZQUEZ, 2.16.038
“I am happy because by the end of the session I made a great time and I was almost under a 2.16; something which only two riders have actually done. I am really confident and I feel as good in the session as I did in Qatar and Jerez, where I was mixing it up with the quickest. I like the track and I think we can go faster but it will be important to keep working on the set-up and be mindful of how any changes will affect us. I am sure tomorrow the track will have more grip so we can keep on searching for the limit”.
