Perfect start for Terol at Dutch GP

 In News

The 125cc World Championship riders were back in action today, just four days after the chequered flag was waved on the British GP. There were no signs of tiredness, however, as they went on the attack from the first minute of the opening practice session at the Dutch TT, Spanish trio Nico Terol, Marc Márquez and Pol Espargaró the only riders to head the timesheets although Bradley Smith was in close proximity.

Changes to the Ruskenhoek corner have allowed the minor category riders to shave two seconds off the previous lap record here, Bancaja Aspar rider Terol clocking the fastest time after a dominant performance that saw him set four laps in the 1’43s. The Spaniard initially struggled with the second and third sectors of the track but once he got to grips with them he immediately shaved half a second off his lap time.

1st Nico Terol 1.43.208 (25 laps): “It was important to be running up front from the first minute today because at Silverstone I struggled a little bit to get on the pace. I pushed hard because it’s a circuit I like and I got a good feeling straight away. It was a positive session because as well as working in the right way I kept up a consistently strong pace and that is important for the race. I am satisfied because we have worked well and we were battling for top spot throughout the session. It is no coincidence that Smith, Marc, Pol and myself are up there every week – Efrén is usually there or thereabouts too. I suppose that will continue for the rest of the weekend and pole position will be hard-fought. I feel calm and confident to have started a GP with the fastest time, so I hope I can do just as well tomorrow.”
