Barbera relaxed and ready for German GP

After a week’s holiday following the Grand Prix of Catalunya the 2010 MotoGP World Championship is back on the road this week to continue its breathless journey around the planet. The midway point of the season has come around at a dizzying speed, with three consecutive races followed by a week’s break, only for the MotoGP riders to be back on track for two more in consecutive weekends at the shortest circuits on the calendar. Sachsenring and Laguna Seca are the only tracks that measure less than four kilometres in length but they are no less of a challenge for it and they will once again put the teams and riders to the test.

In the absence of Valentino Rossi it has been Spanish riders who have dominated at the front of the field although their compatriot and Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider Héctor Barberá is gradually closing the gap. The rookie from Valencia scored his second straight top ten finish in Barcelona and although the challenge of Sachsenring, a notoriously tight and twisty track, will be far from easy Héctor is confident of another solid points haul.

Héctor Barberá: “The next Grand Prix brings back a lot of good memories for me because I have had some nice races here in the smaller categories. Sachsenring is a small and demanding circuit but at the same time it is very nice. It is a combination of a lot of slow corners and some very fast ones – the final downhill right-hander is spectacular because you dive into it at high speed. I think that in the last couple of races we have done some good work on the front end and I have improved my feeling with the bike. The understanding with the team is improving and little by little I feel more comfortable with the Ducati, which makes the job of setting it up more straightforward, and that is thanks to them. To be honest I have enjoyed having a week off but I am ready to get to Germany and looking forward to working to my maximum again.”
