Marquez Milestones

 In News

Marc Marquez just keeps on setting new records and milestones – he followed up his maiden GP victory at Mugello by winning the next four races in succession, to move into a commanding lead in the world championship standings at the halfway point of the season. During this five race period, Marquez has set a number of new records for Grand Prix racing:

  • At the Catalan Grand Prix Marquez became the youngest ever rider to win four successive GP races, taking the record from Valentino Rossi. Subsequently in Germany he became the youngest rider to win five successive GP races.
  • At the Catalan Grand Prix he also became the youngest ever rider to start from pole at three successive GP races – another record previously held by Valentino Rossi.
  • He is the first rider in the 125cc class to win five or more successive races since Valentino Rossi won six in a row back in 1997.
  • At the German Grand Prix he also became the first rider to qualify on pole at four successive 125cc GP races since Mattia Pasini in 2007
