Elias not allowed to start Brno FP1 due to illegal testing

 In Moto2, News

There was no free practice for Toni Elias this afternoon due to the sanctions imposed by Race Direction for the team’s decision to test at Misano on Sunday 8th August, which was an infringement of the FIM Road Racing World Championship 2010 regulations. That meant that Russian rookie Vladimir Ivanov was the only Team Gresini representative on track for the opening Moto2 free practice.

Fausto Gresini: “It’s tough to see Toni Elias looking so disappointed in the pit box with his number 24 Moriwaki MD600. It was a mistake we obviously didn’t want and I hope Toni and his team are able to make up for lost time tomorrow with the enthusiasm and determination that they are known for. That’s definitely the best way to put this unfortunate incident behind us. ”
