Faubel happy with first day despite 32nd position

Scott Redding was 21st fastest during today’s opening free practice session at Brno, with Hector Faubel finishing less than a second adrift of his Marc VDS teammate in 32nd position. Both riders are confident of significant improvements in their lap times tomorrow, as they continue work to refine the set-up of their Suter MMX Moto2 machines.

Faubel and his crew made big changes to the set-up of his Moto2 machine ahead of today’s session, in a bid to improve the feeling for the rider and also to increase the Spaniard’s confidence in the bike. Following the hour-long session, Faubel declared himself happy with the progress made and, although disappointed with his final lap time, confident that this could be improved with further changes to the set-up of the bike tomorrow.

Today’s opening free practice session was held in dry conditions, but rain has been forecast to arrive at the Brno circuit sometime tomorrow afternoon, meaning qualifying could well be held in the wet.

Hector Faubel #55: 32nd – 2’06.933
“We’ve made a lot of changes to the bike and this has improved the feeling considerably. My confidence has increased with every lap today, so I’m happy about that. Obviously I’m not happy with the lap time, but I am confident this will come tomorrow. We will make some further small changes to the bike ahead of the second free practice session then it will just be a case of full gas and trying for fast lap times. This way of working is good for me and I hope we will see some big improvements tomorrow.”
