Barbera looking forward to one of his favourite tracks
The Misano circuit in Italy is preparing for the return of MotoGP to Europe this weekend as the teams and riders head directly back from Indianapolis for the San Marino Grand Prix. Little changed at the top of the standings in America and it will take a major surprise for much to change before the end of the season so the attention turns to what promises to be a spicy Mediterranean clash between the Spanish and Italian riders in the class this weekend.
A third place and a win in the 250cc over the past two seasons give Héctor Barberá plenty of reason to look forward to returning to Misano. The Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider hopes he can find a good feeling with his Ducati there from the opening session on Friday and build towards his best performance of the season on Sunday. Only a front-end set-up problem limited him to tenth place at Indianapolis and Hector is confident of improving on that as he gets more and more comfortable amongst his premier-class peers.
Héctor Barberá: “Misano is a circuit I like a lot. I tend to go fast there quite easily. Two years ago I I could have won the race but I finished third even though I ran off track a couple of times and lost a lot of time, and then last year I won. My results at Misano say a lot, I get a good feeling there and I’m going to go for it. I think I am in my best form of the season so far. Even though the result was quite positive at Indianapolis I didn’t manage to ride how I like. At Misano I’ll be giving my maximum from the first session. My objective as at every Grand Prix is to close the gap to the top riders in the class in practice and in the race.”
