Motivation is high for Terol after back-to-back victories
With just seven rounds remaining of the 125cc World Championship the title race is wide open, with Spanish trio Márquez, Terol and Espargaró separated by just five points after another titanic tussle at Indianapolis. The three have dominated the season so far and, with Bancaja Aspar rider Bradley Smith also sure to be fighting for wins, they look certain to maintain their stranglehold to the end of the year. The only question is which one of them will take the title.
Bancaja Aspar rider Nico Terol has returned from a mid-season injury even stronger than ever, taking back to back wins at Brno and Indianapolis. His most recent success has brought him to within striking distance of the championship lead, which he would secure with victory on Sunday regardless of other results.
Nico Terol: “We go to Misano feeling very motivated after our second straight win at Indianapolis. Last year at Misano I managed to finish second after a great battle and I think this will be another close one because it’s a short and straightforward track where it is hard to make a difference. There could be a bigger group than usual at the front and that could work out one of two ways for the guys leading the championship because it’s an opportunity for people to make up points. We have taken a big step forward in the last two races but we cannot afford to slacken off because our rivals are very strong and the level of competition is sky high this season. It will be important to find a good set-up from Friday and get some fast laps down and find a good feeling for Sunday. My objective will be to put 100% effort in as at every race and if I see that I’m in good shape to fight for the win I won’t hold back. At the same time, with everybody so close together it will also be very important not to make a mistake.”
