Espargaro looking for more after difficult practice
A difficult start for the Pramac Racing Team riders today in Misano Adriatico in first free practice of the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera of Rimini that will take place Sunday. The free practice have seen both riders finish the session in the rear position with a gap of almost two seconds from the first of ranking for Espargarò while Kallio had made is best lap with three seconds of gap from the first of the ranking. A significant gap that is also given from the not perfect tyre grip as the runway was a bit dirty. Both riders had tried different solutions starting from the setting adopted in Indianapolis’s race last week. Unfortunately, even though the Italian track is very similar to the U.S. one, the fastest time they had, was not the best. For tomorrow’s free practice, engineers have already identified many settings that will be tested during the second practice session and subsequent in qualifying session. A difficult start but that might hold great surprises for the Pramac Racing Team.
Fabiano Sterlacchini – Pramac Racing Team Technical Director
“A very difficult start for us. The track was very dirty and although we had an advantage in all those circuits that tend to warm up the tyres, on this track we didn’t have it. The ranking is clear, we have different bike brands in the top positions, that are not the one we use. We had think of many solutions that we will try tomorrow during the second free practice and that will bring us to find the setting that we will use during qualifying session. The gap we have is considerable, but with the right changing, we can significantly reduce the gap tomorrow. “
Aleix Espargarò – Pramac Racing Team – 14th fastest time in 1’36.716
“The first few laps were really difficult for me, I could not ride the bike in the best way. We adopted the same set-up we had use in Indianapolis but the thinks were not so positive as we thought. I than changed the bike and managed to reduce my lap. We then have still have to do some modifications to my bike and try to be fast at all the sectors of the track. I can be very fast in the third sector, while I still have difficulties in the second sector where I had the best second last time. Tomorrow I’m sure that with the changes made on my bike, I will certainly obtain a better lap time. “
