Cardus makes up 17 places in the race to finish 20th
The Maquinza SAG Team finished the GP of San Marino in Riviera of Rimini with a completely opposite feeling comparing with the start of the weekend.
The Moto2 race of the San Marino’s round was a big reinforcement for the confidence of Ricky who starting 37th finished 20th. Ricky did a good start climbing two positions and progressed more each lap taking advantage of the mistakes of his opponents and showing his capacity to go fast. He was climbing positions until he reached 20th at the last corner of the race. After a weekend where Eduardo Perales rider did not take a good direction of work, he finished by making a good result.
20th RICKY CARDÚS (MAQUINZA SAG TEAM // BIMOTA), 44’31.022:
“Yesterday at the evening I finished really disappointed with the job done during the practices but now I finished happy with the result achieved. Yesterday night I wanted to empty my mind taking out all the bad feelings of the work I did to get good concentration and be focused on the race totally. I knew that I had to finish this race because my statistics were quite negative and this is why I was being careful but fast too. Starting 37th was difficult but I did it good and I overcame some positions. After that I tried to keep the distance with the opponent in front of me and I took advantage of any mistake that my rivals did, finishing in the best position during all my season. Anyway, today is a sad day for our motorsport, I want to give my most sincerely condolence to the family, friends and team of Shoya Tomizawa, we suffered the loss of a great person.”
EDUARDO PERALES, TEAM MANAGER:
“Today is not a day to be happy, our friend Shoya Tomizawa succumbed to the injuries due to the horrible accident he suffered in the Moto2 race, from the team we want to give all our support to Shoya’s family and all his team, he will always be present in our hearts.”
