Barbera in best shape and looking for Rookie advantages at new circuit
The brand new Motorland Aragon circuit, which was only finished in 2009, opens its doors to the MotoGP World Championship this weekend. The premier-class riders have yet to ride at the track but its characteristics should prove to be to their liking. As well as been technical and flowing, it features the longest straight on the calendar and at some 1.326km it could produce record top speeds. The third event to take place on Spanish soil this season will see a return to four practice sessions whilst the fans are sure to make it as much of a spectacle as they do at Jerez, Barcelona and Valencia.
Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider Héctor Barberá is looking forward to racing in front of the home crowd at Aragón. The Spaniard has finished in the top ten at the last three races and is hoping to consolidate his best run of form this season. The youngster is learning more about the characteristics of his Ducati every time he rides it and after visiting the circuit back in July he is hoping to adapt quickly on Friday.
Héctor Barberá: “I am really looking forward to getting out on track at Motorland. I think the rookies will be at less of a disadvantage than usual because everybody is starting from scratch. I know the Ducati well now and I had the chance to check the circuit out in July so it shouldn’t be too difficult for us to adapt. I am in my best form of the season so far and I think I can put on a good show this Sunday. Like every race in Spain the home riders will be giving it everything and I am sure it will be an exciting weekend. The objective is to keep improving – we are picking up some good results now but we want even better ones. One way to do that is by improving my starts so that I am not compromised over the first two or three laps.”
