Terol takes fastest laptime at first time out at Aragon
Whilst Moto2 and MotoGP enjoyed a dry session as well as a wet one today, the 125cc riders had to abandon their slick tyres in both free practices, with the morning hit by a light shower in the final five minutes and the afternoon a complete washout.
Bancaja Aspar riders Nico Terol and Bradley Smith both took turns at the top of the time sheets in the dry morning conditions before finishing first and third fastest respectively. The Spaniard also set the highest top speed in the category with 226.8km/h. Despite not testing here both riders adapted quickly to the new track. Nico rode well in the wet but decided to miss the final ten minutes of the afternoon session, whilst Bradley also came in early after saving a highside in the final turn.
1st Nico Terol 2.04.580 (24 laps): “I am really happy with how this first day has gone. I didn’t test here in the summer so I was keen to see what the track was like. I enjoyed it as soon as I got on the bike but it is not an easy track. It has a lot of blind corners and lots of flowing sections where you need to make sure your exit is right so that you line the next entry up properly. It doesn’t have any secrets though and the more I rode it the more I got used to it. The rain was a shame because all your reference points change but I’m satisfied because our times are up there and we worked well.”
