Ricky Cardus finishes painful Motegi race in 27th position
The Maquinza SAG Team finished the Japan Grand Prix 27th, in a race where Ricky had to make a big effort to ride his Bimota.
The injections Cardús received before the Moto2 race didn’t have the desired effect on his injury, which meant that he still had to ride in pain. The start of Ricky was one of his best of the season and after four laps he gained five positions, but the movements on the bike hurt more and more until he began to lose sensibility in his left hand. However, Ricky did not give up and he adapted his riding style to his injury, trying to work as well as he could to finish 27th.
The Team of Eduardo Perales is ready now to face the next round of the season the next weekend in Malaysia, exactly at the Sepang circuit.
27th RICKY CARDÚS (MAQUINZA SAG TEAM // BIMOTA), 45’05.279:
“I was expecting that after the injections that I received in my hand that my hand wouldn’t hurt, but that wasn’t the case. The start of the race was very good and I saw my chance to do a good result after all, but then I started to feel the same pain as before always and while the race was going on I began to lose sensibility in my fingers. All of this ruined my riding style and I had to adapt it to my injury. Finally I finished 27th, a result that I’m not happy with, because we began to have a high performance level but the injury made things difficult. I hope to recover fast during the week, so I will be OK to ride the Bimota at Sepang.”
