Good start to the weekend for Aleix Espargaro
Good start for Aleix Espargarò on the Sepang track in the 20th Malaysian Grand Prix. The Pramac Ducati rider was 8th fastest today, being only 0.7 seconds slower than the fastest laptime posted by Valentino Rossi. It should also be noted that there’s one a very small gap to 5th position, only 0.1 seconds away from Aleix’ best lap time. This gives the rider and team some confidence for the second free practice session and qualifying tomorrow.

“It’s been a few races since I started a Grand Prix weekend in such a positive way. Today things went in the right direction from the start and the gap of just 0.7 seconds to Valentino Rossi on a such a long track gives us some hope for the rest of the weekend. The bike responds well and I am hopeful that tomorrow we’ll be able to get a good position on the grid, when we make some small changes on the bike.”
