Barbera keen to put things right again at Australian GP
A tiring three weeks for the MotoGP World Championship riders reaches its conclusion this weekend as the paddock arrives at Phillip Island, Australia. The sixteenth round of the season is always one of the most interesting, and one of the coldest. The chilly Victorian spring is in stark contrast to the heat and humidity of Malaysia, where the new MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was crowned last Sunday. Spanish motorcycle racing is back on top, as it was eleven years ago when Álex Crivillé clinched the title in Brazil.
So far the ‘flyaway’ trip has not been as fruitful as Héctor Barberá would have liked. The Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider was in increasingly good form before leaving European shores, since when he has struggled with rear grip issues in the last two races. The Spaniard is hoping for a return to his best form at Phillip Island, where he finished second in the 250cc race last year.
Héctor Barberá: “I am already looking forward to arriving on Phillip Island and getting to work. The weekend didn’t turn out as we hoped in Malaysia and I am keen to start working on where we went wrong and putting it right. We are struggling for rear grip and I want to sit down with the team on Thursday and work out why. We can’t afford to lose any more time. The team and I are working very hard and sooner or later we will turn the situation around. I like Phillip Island a lot, I finished second in the 250cc race last season and I always enjoy riding there.I am sure we can perform well.”
