Terol expects tough battle for victory despite front row start
Even though temperatures were higher today than yesterday at Phillip Island the strong winds made life difficult for the 125cc riders on track. A partially damp track also didn’t help for this morning’s free practice, which was dominated by Pol Espargaró after Bradley Smith had set the pace yesterday, but conditions were dry for the afternoon as Marc Márquez emerged to take pole position.
Despite not topping any of the sessions so far Nico Terol is confident of a challenge for victory in tomorrow’s race, having set a fast pace in the wet and dry conditions. Strong winds contributed to him losing time in the second and third sectors today but he still qualified on the front row of the grid in fourth place.
4th Nico Terol 1.39.084 (18 laps): “This morning we lapped with the track part wet and part dry, so it was very slippery and I preferred not to take any risks. In the afternoon there were a few points where the wind was lifting the bike but we still managed to find a good set-up. There are some places in the second and third sector where I am not as comfortable as I would like but we will sort that out tomorrow. My pace is good and I am confident, I think we can be fighting for the win again tomorrow. I am on the front row again, which was the main objective. My rivals are looking strong so it is difficult to predict how the race will be. I just hope to be up at the front from the first lap.”
