European Championship gets underway this weekend at Albacete

 In JuniorGP, Red Bull Rookies

The 2010 European Speed Championship will take place this weekend in Albacete. In the 125cc class of this one-round event as many as 35 riders will fight hard to achieve the prestigious victory: among them some of the best riders of EU countries.

Marcel Schrötter, the defending champion, will not take part in the race and, as usual, the home riders will be the favourites. In the 125cc class we’ll see a total of seven Spanish riders, including high-profile names like Maverick Vinales and Alex Rins who are currently first and second in the Spanish Championship and Daniel Ruiz, who came fourth in the Red Bull Rookie Cup this season. And we’ll see a well-known name in the form of Alex Marquez, the younger brother of world championship hotshot Marc Marquez.

Another protagonist will be the Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira who has been one of the quickest riders in the Spanish Championship this year, currently sitting in third position, and who came fifth in last year’s European Championship race.

The event will be televised in seven countries and you can also find the latest news and infos on the websites of the UEM and the European Championship.
