Strong comeback for Ricky Cardus after injury
After two weeks of recuperation, Barcelona rider Ricky Cardús arrived here with a big desire to show that deserves to be a part of the Moto2 world championship. As a result, today he achieved his best classification of the season.
During this morning’s stormy weather the Maquinza SAG Team worked well in the difficult conditions to get a good set-up, allowing him to finish the session in 14th position. During this afternoon’s session the weather improved a lot and Cardús repeated his feat, maintaining progress and again classifying 14th. The largish gap that separates Ricky from the fastest riders is a result of his decision to keep riding with wet settings while some riders changed to dry settings when the track started drying up. Ricky is very motivated to keep working and reduce the gap tomorrow at Estoril.
14th RICKY CARDÚS (MAQUINZA SAG TEAM // BIMOTA), 1’55.040:
“It was very tough to watch the Malaysian race from the pit wall and the Australian while sitting on the couch, because when you are a rider you always want to be on the bike, even when you are injured. But I think sincerely that the team and me took a good decision to recuperate after the Japan GP. Now I am back with a big desire to ride and I think that I have showed that today. Although the weather conditions did not show my real potential, tomorrow I will get on the bike ready to do my best and reach a good result in qualifying.”
