Barbera sees room to improve after first two days are cut short

 In MotoGP, News

Despite the best hopes of the MotoGP paddock the local weather forecasts were perfectly accurate at Estoril and the Portuguese circuit was hit by incessant rain throughout today. The storms intensified this afternoon to the point where all qualifying sessions were initially put back to 1430h and then cancelled by Race Direction.

Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider Héctor Barberá will start from fifteenth on the grid, with the positions decided by the combined free practice times. The Spaniard’s best effort of the weekend came yesterday afternoon whilst this morning he suffered a crash in the final turn just three laps into the session. He returned to the track and recovered the confidence to fight for a good result whatever the conditions tomorrow.

15th Héctor Barberá 1.53.131: “With the way the track was it would have been too risky to ride this afternoon and the decision to cancel the session was the right one. I had a crash in practice yesterday and another one no sooner than we took to the track this morning. It is a shame we didn’t get the chance to ride again this afternoon but we can’t do much about that. We had a few changes in mind but didn’t get chance to try them. The important thing is that I got my confidence back with the bike after the crash and we still have room to improve. Now we just have to wait and see what the conditions are for the race tomorrow.”
