Double payoff for Elias from yesterday’s tyre gamble

 In Moto2, News

A heavy rainstorm gave Race Direction little choice but to cancel qualifying practice for all three classes at the Grand Prix of Portugal this afternoon. Grid positions have been based on the combined classification of the three free practice sessions, meaning Toni Elias will start from the front row in third place thanks to his best lap from yesterday. The gamble of using slick tyres when the track was not completely dry paid off for the Spaniard, although his team-mate Vladimir Ivanov was less fortunate and will start from the ninth row of the grid.
