Barbera satisfied with day’s work and race setup

Autumn sunshine continued to bathe the Circuito Ricardo Tormo de Cheste in warmth this afternoon, creating perfect conditions for the final MotoGP qualifying session of the year. Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo continued their domination from yesterday, with Marco Simoncelli threatening but unable to break up the Australian and the Spaniard on the front row. Stoner took the first pole position of the season and today he took the last.

Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider Héctor Barberá ran off track early this morning in turn ten but he was able to return to the track and lap eighth fastest. In the afternoon he found what he believes is his best set-up of the season and although he was unable to lap any higher than thirteenth fastest he was only 1.371 seconds off pole and is optimistic about his chances tomorrow.

13th Héctor Barberá 1.33.170 (19 vueltas): “At the start of the session I went out on a used tyre and we tested some things that we had planned. I improved quite a lot and felt comfortable on used tyres. At the end of the session I changed the tyre and improved my pace again but Dovizioso and I got tangled up and lost time overtkaing each other, which cost me a better grid position. I think this is one of the few times I have been totally happy with my set-up and we’re not going to touch a thing for tomorrow. I am confident and even though the grid position doesn’t reflect that I know I can have a good race. If I can make a good start I can finish in the top eight – a pace in the 1’33s should make sure.”
