With the Christmas holidays around the corner, Dani Pedrosa today launched the book “Two elf mechanics for Dani Pedrosa” in Barcelona, a children’s book which combines reality and a bit of fiction to tell the story of the Repsol rider’s first steps into motorcycling. It was a time marked by excitement, a feeling which Dani still feels and which today the hundreds of fans who came for their signed copy, also felt.

Written by Pau Joan Hernàndez and featuring the illustrations of Jordi Vila Delclòs, it is aimed at children aged between 6 and 12, as part of the “Sporting values” collection. The book is based on the happiness with which the young Dani Pedrosa received his motocross suit from Father Christmas when he was only five. His excitement at this magical time predicted what is today, a spectacular sporting career in the world of motorcycling, full of triumphs and also hard work and effort. But the suit was not the most important thing that the current Repsol rider received that day: with it came two elf mechanics, Tim and Tom, who vowed to help him with everything necessary to make him into a true World Champion.

The book, which will be available in the Repsol Service Stations of Catalunya, goes on sale with a print run of 3,000 copies in Spanish and 3,000 in Catalan. 6% percent of the profits from the sale will go to the NGO “Aldeas Infantiles SOS” by the express wish of the sportsman. The children’s story collection “Sporting values” is made up of a series of stories aimed at readers aged between 6 and 14, and include real life anecdotes from sportsmen with a faultless professional record which inspire values such as effort, sacrifice, sportsmanship, exercise or personal achievement.

Dani Pedrosa: “It is my heart that has led me to undertake an initiative like this because it’s all for children. It is the story of when I was young and it explains the excitement and desire of a child to play and have fun. Also, the profits of this book will go to an NGO which I worked with six years ago, Aldeas Infantiles. There is nothing better than children’s excitement and love, and I have always liked children. I am very happy to be able to have this book out and that others can share it with me because it’s my story and, although obviously I know it by heart, if I had been able to read a book like this at that age, it would have given me a lot. I think that it will provide a lot more excitement and interest to do a sport”.
