Marquez takes big step forward on second test day at Jerez

The tests that are taking place at the Jerez Circuit are very productive for Marc Márquez, who in the second day of tests continued with his positive adaptation to Moto2. The Repsol rider, who had a new chassis today, has kept a consistent pace with very competitive times.

With sun and very good temperature, the job of Marc Márquez and his team in the track where the second round of the 2011 World Championship will take place allowed them to make some good progress in the testing program before the beginning of the season. After 51 laps at the Andalusian track, the Repsol rider rounded the day by setting a fastest time of 1 minute, 43 seconds and 2 tenths, seven tenths faster than the time he set yesterday, which confirms his good progression.

Márquez finished the day satisfied with his consistently high pace , although he still has some margin to improve the set-up of his bike. After testing today the new configurations of the suspension and geometry of his Moto2, the current 125cc World Champion was able to try a new chassis in the second half of the day. He was not able to reach conclusions and will keep analyzing it tomorrow, in the third and last day of tests scheduled in Jerez.

“If we look at today globally, I think that we can be satisfied. We achieved some very good times, but we were also able to be consistent in both sessions. We have continued with yesterday’s work, specially working on the set-up of the bike. The suspension and geometry were some of the areas in which we focused. In the afternoon we tried a new chassis, although it is still too early to draw any conclusions. We have job to do to see which one is better. Tomorrow we will have another tough testing day, so for today we have earned a good night’s rest”.
