Team Andalucia Banca Cívica presents 2011 lineup, Moncayo and Oliveira to run different liveries
The Andalucia Banca Civica 125cc team, led by Pedro Machado, presented their 2011 lineup today. New sponsors, new members in the technical crew and three veteran riders for the Andalusian team – Alberto Moncayo, Miguel Oliveira and Ivan Moreno – form what will be the Team Andalucia Banca Civica.
Team Machado debuted in the world championship last season after winning the Spanish Championship with Alberto Moncayo who became teammate to Britain’s Danny Webb in the team’s first year.
2010 was a learning year for this team, but the season ended with excellent results and the title “Rookie of the Year” for Alberto Moncayo.
This season the team faces its second year in the championship and now goes for the maxium. The technical crew has two significant additions: Enrique Quijal, a technician with extensive experience in the world championship, and Mario Martini, a telemetry specialist who was part of the team that helped Valentino Rossi to his first championship title.
The Andalucía governing board continues its support of Team Machado and Banca Civica, a confederation of financial institutions of Cajasol, which sponsored the team in previous years, are important parts of the team. Ibero Cruceros is one of the new sponsors this season, as is Tigretón which will sponsor Alberto Moncayo.
Miguel Oliveira joins Moncayo in the team and both have already shown their high level at the first tests and that they are able to compete with the fastest riders in the championship.
In the CEV Ivan Moreno will defend the colors of the team in the Moto2 class where he already showed last season that he is one of the fastest riders in this category.
Pedro Machado: “I am very pleased with the team we have this season. We have shown before that we have a very competitive structure and in preparation for this year we have strengthened the technical crew. Also Alberto and Miguel have both been very quick during testing and I think in 2011 they are good for more than one surprise. In the CEV we’ve also started with testing and also had great results. Ivan was very fast from the first moment he got on the bike and I’m sure he will give us many joys in the CEV.”
