Aspar riders Simon and Fores confined to boxes as rain spoils Jerez test

 In Moto2, News

The Moto2 riders unfortunately didn’t have as much luck today at the official IRTA test in Jerez as they had last week with bright sunshine. Today things have changed a bit. At the moment all teams of the small categories are at the Andalusian track to finalize their settings just before the start of the season in two weeks in Qatar.
But instead of three everyone now has only two days of testing, because the first one was over to quickly with rain spoiling the show. Just after midday an intense downpour of water and hail caused all riders to get back into their boxes and delay all testing. The rest of the day has not been much better and the Mapfre Aspar riders chose not to go out on track. They were scheduled to begin their work just moments before the rain came and in view of the conditions they decided not to risk anything and hope that the conditions will improve tomorrow have another two days of as successful as last week.

Julian Simon: We had very bad luck with the weather. Just when we wanted to go out, and ride the bike it started to hail, so I had to stay inside the box. We could not work and I hope that tomorrow the sun will be out and we can ride as we want, to continue with the good feeling I had last week at the same track. I want to go to Qatar with everything ready, I can’t wait for the championship to start, if it was up to me it’d begin tomorrow. I feel perfect and every time I go out on the bike I feel better, I want to start racing now. Today was too dangerous to go out, because the track was cold and wet, so I preferred not to go out all day

Xavi Fores: Today we could not ride or test anything because the weather has not been good. Anyway, I must say that yesterday I came to Jerez in a calm mood, because the testing last week went very good. It helped us to find a basis for the Suter at this circuit. And those two days also improved my feeling with the bike and the team.
