Aspar riders off to an excellent start at Jerez

 In News

The rain yesterday caught more than one team off guard and changed the plans for most of them, so nobody wanted to miss a minute when the weather had improved greatly for today and at ten o’clock sharp the Moto2 and 125cc riders flooded the track. But today the rain has been replaced by intense wind which reached speeds up to 40 km/h. But at least all riders were able to complete a productive day of work. Bankia Aspar rider Nico Terol remains the reference in the 125cc class, again posting the fastest laptime.

The common denominator of all three Bankia Aspar riders on the second test day was tenacity and perseverance. Slightly dismayed by not having a lot of time on the track yesterday, they went out today immediately to complete a long and productive working session. Nico (57), Hector (77) and Adrian (58) together have completed no less than 192 laps.
Nico Terol didn’t dominate the session throughout the day as he did in Valencia, because today was his day to test and sort out small details of the chassis. But eventually the result was the same and he was again the reference in 125cc with the best laptime. His teammate Hector Faubel gradually gets better and better and today he led the timesheets for much of the combined session and finally finished with the third fastest time. Adrian Martin had the opportunity to get acustomed to a 125cc bike in the dry again. He finsihed the day satisfied and eager to continue to improve tomorrow.

1° Nico Tero1, 1.48.382 (57 laps): “Today was a day of many tests. We started with several modifications of the chassis which didn’t help us improve. So we got back out to lower the rear of the bike and that change allowed me to brake later. We also tested a few exhausts which made the bike work better. I want to thank the whole team and especially my mechanics, because we are making the bike run much better in all weather conditions, I think this is very important. The chassis base we have is very good and the references from last year too, but we are trying to finetune some small details that help us to be faster.”

3º Héctor Faubel 1.48.4 (77 laps): “I am very happy, but also tired because I did 77 laps. This morning the track was not in the best conditios, but despite that I rode quite comfortable. Today we had time to test many configurations. After lunch we went out with our best setting and I set a pretty fast laptime. In the session only for 125cc I did a long run of ten laps to go towards the references for a race. But it wasn’t very productive because I was a little tired and the bike also didn’t have the best performance after riding all day without stopping.”

10º Adrián Martín 1.49.872 (58 laps): “The goal today was to do more and better laps. Yesterday the weather didn’t help us and we were standing around for too long, so I wanted to do many laps to continue getting the feeling back. At least we want to make up for the time we missed this winter. I did 58 laps and almost at the end of the day I got a pretty good time. Both the team and myself are very happy, we struggled a bit to get the right setting, but when we got it it worked great. I am satisfied because we found the way to go. Tomorrow we expect another busy day, if the weather is good I want to continue doing many laps and get used to the bike.”
