Moncayo and Oliveira continue positive preseason despite engine failures

 In News

After a day dominated by heavy rain the riders of Team Andalucía Banca Cívica finally left the box, even though the conditions were still uncomfortable with sun but strong wind it has not prevented the riders to go out despite making work a bit more complicated.

The riders of the team led by Pedro Machado have focused on setting up their bikes more and more refined each time. Alberto Moncayo has worked on the latest engine modifications for 2011, a job that has not been easy for the team as they had to deal with a few failures that forced the team to work hard on the bike. In the case of Miguel Oliveira the work was focused more on finding different chassis configurations. The base setup for the Portuguese is clear for the team, but there is always room for improvement and both the mechanics and the rider are still studying different technical solutions.

Tomorrow will be the last day of the official IRTA test and also the final day of preseason for the small classes, which changes the dynamics of work a little bit, to be focused more on getting the laptimes instead of working on setting.

Pedro Machado: “Yesterday, because of the weather, we decided not to go out and today we focused on working as much as possible on the bikes to be prepared as good as possible for the first race of the season. We had some problems with Alberto’s bike because we suffered some failures, but we are working with new material that is not easy to get right. Oliveira has worked more on the setup which, although we have it fairly clear, we can always improve. Still, Alberto has finished in 9th position and Oliveira in 11th, positions that I think are very good considering our work.
In any case, we are very pleased with the team we have. Both the technical crew and the riders, I think we are very strong and this season we will do a good job. I also have to thank for the support of all our sponsors who make it possible for us to do this work and I want to give special thanks to the government of Cadiz and its president Francisco González Cabaña who has been a fundamental part to have our whole project go ahead.”
