Tito Rabat happy to take points in Moto2 debut
The Blusens team had a good start to the 2011 world championship with two riders finishing in the points. Yonny Hernández and Tito Rabat started very well and managed to make up several positions in the first laps to get immediately in the fight for the top 15. The Blusens-STX teammates maintained a nice duel for much of the 20 laps of the opening round of the championship and finally crossed the line in twelfth and 14th. Kenny Noyes, after many problems in the training sessions, also did a good race and finished 24th.
RAÚL ROMERO (Blusens-STX team owner): “This is a very important season for us and I think we started pretty well. Our three riders have gone from strength to strength and have demonstrated the potential to do big things. Tito Rabat had a very successful debut in Moto2, he managed to finish in the points with a fast pace and laptimes close to those of the best. We have high hopes.”
34 TITO RABAT (14º. 40’59.459, +20.855): “I’m happy with my debut in the Moto2 world championship, because I scored points and to be honest I really didn’t expect us going so well. I thought that the start would be very difficult, but I controlled it well and I could quickly catch up with the fight for the top 15 and stay there throughout the race. I was also a little nervous because we made some changes in the development of the FTR, but it worked very well and although I had problems in a few corners we have been very competitive. I am very happy because I enjoyed it a lot and I feel very comfortable in this category, because the bike goes as good as the others and it fits my size more, I fit better on it. I had a great fight with Yonny and when Aleix [Espargaro] passed us I could follow him, but on the final lap my teammate and Aegerter passed me and I lost two positions to the finish line. But still, scoring two points is a good start and I want to thank the whole team for all the help they are giving me and the great work they are doing.”
