Last night, the theatre Kursaal de Manresa was the venue to host the “41th Nit de l’Esport” [“Night of Sports”] organized by the Biela Club Manresa, where several athletes, coaches, organizations and institutions in different sporting disciplines were awared for their career and results achieved in 2010.

Current MotoGP rider Toni Elias was the most decorated athlete of the evening, taking home two awards. The first was the “Premio al Mejor Deportista Absoluto” [“Best Athlete Overall”] for his career in the World Championship and he also received the “Medalla de la Ciutat” [“Medal of the City”] of Manresa for taking the title of the Moto2 World Championship in 2010. He received the award from the mayor of the city, his home town, Mr. Josep Camprubí.

Toni Elias: “I am happy, very happy. When I was champion last year the best prize was the reception that I got throughout my home town. I want to thank everyone who helped me, my family, my people… without them this would not have been possible. This recognition gives me motivation for the future. It is difficult, but I hope to return with a MotoGP title, I’ll try.”

Last week Toni also presented his new 2011 merchandise collection at Intersport in Sabadell, using the opportunity to talk to fans and give autographs. The new shirts, hoodies and caps are now available in Spain and at the MotoGP circuits.
