Polyccio just outside the points, but delighted with brother’s success
Pol Espargaro made a good comeback in the Moto2 race of the Catalunya Grand Prix, but it has not been enough to get into the points. The HP Tuenti rider has started the race from the ninth row of the grid, so it’s not too much to complain. Polyccio’s problem has been that with every lap all the problems resurfaced, arising from lack of traction and it has been almost impossible to ride 1.48s. He achieved that in the 21th lap, when the tyres were worn out he was faster than the leaders. Pol Espargaro will have another opportunity next weekend at Silverstone (Great Britain), only two days after celebrating a 20th birthday.
16. Pol Espargaro: “The race was a reflection of how things went during practice where I have never been able to overcome the problems arising from lack of traction. The start was not too bad, but I was so far behind again I had to play catch up. With some crashes in front of me and overtakings I could move up to the 16th position, but I needed one more lap to get into the points. I am not happy about my result, but surely this is the first time I leave a circuit delighted without having scored points. The reason is none other than the first podium of my brother Aleix, which eluded him for years and finally he has done it. In Silverstone next week I hope to be more successful and achieve a much better result this weekend. ”
