Fores Representing Aspar’s Moto2 Squad Alone At Silverstone
The MotoGP World Championship this weekend makes its second visit to Silverstone since the British circuit was reinstated on the calendar last year. As well as being the longest track on the calendar at almost 6km it is also one of the fastest and most demanding, with a host of secrets for the riders to discover. The layout is already a major challenge but tiredness could also be a key factor this weekend, with this the first back-to-back race of the season. Stefan Bradl defends a comfortable lead at the top of the current standings, with the rest of the field in need of a swift response as he continues his strong title challenge.
Xavi Forés will be the lone representative for the MAPFRE Aspar team this weekend and the Spaniard is looking forward to a circuit he remembers well from his time in the World Supersport series, even though it has been altered slightly for this year. Having faced several unknown circuits before the Grand Prix of Catalunya, where he enjoyed a positive weekend up until a mechanical breakdown in the race, he is hoping to use the experience to finally work his way into the points-scoring positions.
Xavi Forés:
“I am really looking forward to going to Silverstone. We had a really good weekend at Montmeló, we moved forward a lot and the lap times came. We spent most of the weekend fighting to be in the top fifteen positions until we suffered a brake problem in the race, so it would be nice to put things right this weekend. Silverstone is a circuit that has been good to me in the past, I think we are working in the right way and if we can continue like this we should be in the points very soon. Hopefully that happens this Sunday.”
