Last lap crash ends difficult race for Pol Espargaro
Pol Espargaro could not finish the race of the Grand Prix of Great Britain, suffering a crash as he began the last lap just behind his brother Aleix and after making up ten positions in a race marked by rain. The Tuenti Racing rider lost three places at the start and despite not having too much grip he managed to improve his laptimes and climb up in the positions. At the end Polyccio went down when he kept pushing and looking to score points for the second time this season. The next race will take place in two weeks at Assen (Holland), where Polyccio hopes to improve his performance and return to the path of the results of Portugal, when he finished sixth.
Pol Espargaro: “We knew it would be a difficult race because of the rain and it was a shame not to shame not to finish it with just one lap to go. Riding under these conditions, in the middle of the group, is complicated and I did everything I could. When I reached my brother I started to believe that we could get into the points, but the gap to the front was too big and we could not hunt them down. It was difficult to overtake Aegerter and battle with Aleix, and when I did that I made a mistake in the corner entering the finish line which started the last lap and I crashed. My adaptation to Moto2 is more difficult than expected, but the team is helping me a lot and I hope to move forward in the next two races at Mugello and Assen.”
