Aspar Moto2 Squad Has New Line-up For Assen

4,542 metres of pure legend. The latest version of the historic Assen circuit may be shorter than it has been in years past but it is still every bit as iconic and remains the ‘Cathedral’ to race fans across Europe. Technical, twisty and fast, the majority of riders count it amongst their favourite circuits to ride and as is tradition the race takes place on the final Saturday in June.

The MAPFRE Aspar Team heads to Holland with a new look line-up with Xavi Forés joined by fellow Valencian rider Elena Rosell. Forés is eager to build on a positive performance in England two weeks ago, when he was again within touching distance of the points. His goal this weekend is to finally get off the mark in the championship and he is confident of doing so at a circuit he knows. Elena Rosell becomes the first Spanish female to compete at World Championship level. It is a pioneering move from the MAPFRE Aspar Team, who have every confidence in the rider.

Xavi Forés:
“The race at Silverstone was absolute madness – it was a miracle that I stayed on board and I learnt a lot from it. Once again I was close to the points but it wasn’t to be so now we go to Assen, a circuit I know well and like a lot. Hopefully I can get my first points of the season. We’ve had six attempts now and for one reason or another we have just missed out. We are working hard and I am convinced that sooner or later it will pay off.”

Elena Rosell:
“I have a huge challenge ahead of me this weekend. A new category, new bike and new circuit. The good thing is that I am taking it on as part of a very professional team with a lot of experience at this level. My objective is to enjoy my first race in the World Championship and try to learn as much as possible. All of the bikes are quite similar and I think if I can adapt well to the machine and enjoy my riding then we are capable of a good result.”
