Promising start for Cardus despite crash
After a three-week break of Moto2 racing, QMMF Racing Team riders Ricky Cardús and Mishal Al-Naimi had a good start into the second part of this year’s world championship. 23-year-old Cardús from Spain was up to speed immediately and set a fast time in the first free practice session. Despite a crash in the afternoon, which stopped him from further improving his previous best time, he held a promising 19th place at the end of the day.

“After three weeks of hiatus I resumed with a lot enthusiasm and posted a laptime that I can consider decent. In the afternoon we had higher expectations, but unfortunately I made a rookie mistake and crashed with cold tires. It’s our first full season and we’re still learning. Although we have worked, trying many things in the afternoon, it seemed like we were going backwards instead of progressing. It’s only Friday, I am optimistic and I think we can improve tomorrow.”
