Salom successfully operated on multiple hand fractures, hoping to ride at Indianapolis
Spanish 125cc rider Luis Salom has been successfully operated on fractures which he suffered in a crash during Sunday’s warmup session before the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic, which ruled him out of the race.
An exhaustive analysis of scans discovered various injuries which at first the doctors were not able to determine. After undergoing a CT scan the rider was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of the radial styloids, a comminuted fracture of the base of the second metacarpal, an oblique fracture of the third metacarpal and abrasions on his right hand.
Salom went through surgery successfully and on Thursday the rider will begin with rehabilitation in order to be able to ride the bike at the Grand Prix in Indianapolis. The final decision will be taken on Friday when Luis Salom meets with his team.
