Best qualifying of the season for Cardus

On the second day of practice for the Indianapolis Grand Prix, QMMF Racing Team riders Ricky Cardús and Mishal Al-Naimi kept improving steadily and finished the day with their best qualifying performance of the season so far. 23-year-old Cardús took 14th place on the starting grid, with a gap of just one second to Marc Márquez on pole position.

Ricky Cardús – 14th in 1.45,060: “On the one hand I am satisfied with our best result this year. On the other hand I’m not, because I wanted more. I am 14th and I hope to start well and get into the group in front of me. It will be a tough race, because the tyres are finished after twelfe or 13 laps. That worries us a bit, although it seems that it’s the same for everyone. Depending on the setup, the tyres last seven to 15 laps, depending on the bike, before starting to have problems.”

Luis Solano, team coordinator: “The last minutes of qualifying were amazing. Many riders improved dramatically, and it was difficult for Ricky to keep up with the rapidly dropping lap times. But his 14th place on the grid is still encouraging and we are in a position to have a good race and to achieve the result we are looking for.”
