Rabat delighted with first ever Moto2 podium
Great result for Tito Rabat and the Blusens-STX team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with reaching the third position and getting his best result in Moto2 so far.
Tito did a flawless race from the start. Despite initially being a little behind the leaders, Rabat has been able to reach the group formed by Marquez, Corsi, Ianonne and Smith and be one of the protagonists. The fighting has been tough, but Tito was able to best all of his rivals except for Marquez who had already started to break away.
The arrival of Pol Espargaró pushed both riders to the maximum, denying their pursuers every chance to catch up. In the end the third position for Tito is a great reward for the team and demonstrates the progression of the rider in this difficult category.
34 TITO RABAT (3rd, +2.310): “I am very happy for the team and myself. We have done a great job and it is great to get a reward when you try your hardest. We have been focused throughout the weekend and the team and the bike have been at a great level.
The race was spectacular. I started very well and I tried to quickly catch up with the group. I was able to move forward and when I reached second place Marc was gone. Pol’s arrival meant that we went to the limit and kept the riders who were following us from catching up. At the end I had many problems with the grip on the front and I had to change my riding a little. I preferred not to take risks and take the podium.
I dedicate this result to my family, team, my friends, Bocha, Dr. Mir, Dr. Charte and the Circuit de Almeria where they treated me so well this summer, providing me with all kinds of facilities to train.”
