Bad start spoils Aragon race for Joan Olivé
It’s been the first of the final five Moto2 races Joan Olivé will compete in with the Team Aeroport de Castelló. And this is exactly how the rider and team will approach this final stretch of the season, taking each race as if it was the last of the year to get good results which will enable Joan to continue riding in Moto2 next season.
At the moment for Joan Olivé it still feels like preseason, but with the need to get good results in the tough and demanding Moto2 class.
In this first outing with the Team Aeroport de Castelló at Motorland Aragon, the second for him this year, Joan tried to find his pace, but a bad start from a low position on the grid made it impossible for the rider from Tarragona to move up the order, ending the race in the 28th position. However, he was happy about the miles he got under his belt and about improving the bike from the first day of practices, which gives motivation for the next race in Japan.
Joan Olivé: “I’ve started badly and this has influenced my rest of the race. I could go faster than the riders in front of me, but I was struggling to get back in touch with them after the bad start and that lost me a lot of laps. There were some parts of the circuit where I could go very quickly and the bike was going very well, but there were also some fast corners where I struggled to keep the bike on the racing line. I’m happy to finish the race and now we’ll work hard to be more competitive for Japan.”
