Strong start for Olivé but still work to do

 In Moto2, News

After many meetings between the riders and Dorna the dangers of radiation at the Motegi circuit in Japan have proven to be nonexistent in many reports and finally the first free practice sessions for the Japanese Grand Prix went along normally today. Joan Olivé did an extraordinary first practice, finishing just 1.5 seconds behind the fastest rider.

In the second session the rider from Tarragona improved his time from the first practice, but could not close up the gap to the pole.

Joan Olivé: “This morning we started with some settings on the bike that the team took from last year’s references and it worked very well for me, something we didn’t have at Alcañiz in the last race, because I wanted to use a different setup for the FTR which in the end didn’t work.
We have been working on this base setting all morning and we’ve really been very pleased with the first session. This afternoon we tested new things to try to improve, but we didn’t manage to do that. For tomorrow we’ll return to work with the base from the first practice and I hope to have the bike at 100% for the qualifying.”
