Espargaro takes advantage of chaotic final minutes to qualify for second row
Pol Espargaró played his cards well during qualifying for the Australia Grand Prix in Phillip Island, which was marked by intermittent rain and the difficulty of deciding which moment was the best to go out on track. The ride of HP Tuenti Racing has steadily improved and always stayed within the top ten, finally ending up in sixth and starting from the second row of the grid, thanks to an extraordinary final lap.
Polyccio had is sights on the fastest lap and despite some light drizzle he took some risk and achieved his best qualifying in Moto2.
Tomorrow his goal will be to stay the whole race in the lead group, for which a good start is essential and afterwards fight to finish as high as possible.

“I’ve been lucky in a chaotic session and I think we went on track at the most opportune moments. Starting from the second row is important at a circuit like Phillip Island where there are many places to overtake. We hope the weather will be good and we can have a calm race; I think I have good pace, the bike has a good setup and I’m confident of getting a good result. In each practice I’ve improved my laptimes and been near the front, at least in terms of laptime and finally also in the results. It will surely be a tough race, but we will give it our all and go for the best result possible.”
