Olivé out of luck in qualifying but happy with setup work so far

Not a good day for Aeroport de Castelló rider Joan Olivé who crashed in the final practice session this morning with only five minutes left on the clock as he was about to improve his laptime.
There was strong wind today at the Australian circuit which caused many riders to crash in the morning practice, such as the Aeroport de Castelló rider.

In the afternoon qualifying Joan didn’t start with a very quick rhythm to rather test the bike well after the crash this morning. And just as he was getting ready to push the rain was starting to fall on the Australian circuit, preventing him to improve the time he had done in those first few laps.

The rain stopped a few minutes later, but left the track in conditions that made it impossible for Joan Olivé to improve his time, relegating him to 30th position on the grid for tomorrow’s race, a position that doesn’t do justice to the work he and the team have done this weekend and he’ll surely improve in the race, but again it will be difficult to get into the points with so many riders in front of him to overtake.

JOAN OLIVÉ: “In the free practice I crashed when there were only a few minutes left which annoyed me a lot, because it was in a lap where I was improving my time and I think I could have done very well.
Then in the qualifying we made many changes to the bike and I was testing some things and before you I could start pushing it started to rain and I could not finish one quick lap.
But despite that I am happy because we are on the right way and the bike is going well and I think that if tomorrow is not as windy as today we can get a good result”.
