Vinales takes another fantastic win at scorching Sepang circuit

 In News

Maverick took a fantastic win at the Sepang circuit in an oppressive heat. After he had made a great start from the third row Maverick rocketed to second from a seventh place start on lap 1, catching up to Nico Terol who had the lead then. Soon a five-way battle between Terol, Mack, Cortese, Zarco and Faubel ensued until the end of the race in which the tires and the weariness took their toll. Viñales remained strong and consistent chasing Nico throughout the race until he decided to pass this latter taking the first position and making an escape. Cortese hunted down Maverick – in vain – whereas Terol dropped down. The young Roses-born rider crossed the line first and took a great win as he was able to take the best out of his tires which were different from those of his rivals and gave the Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing Team their third victory of the season. It is now the eighth time that Maverick had achieved finishing in the top-three in his debut season. Josep Rodríguez too did a good job – although he could not ride as much as he wanted to in the free training practices – and crossed the line in fourteenth position and earned his first points since he was incorporated into the Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing Team. The team members would like to send their condolences to Marco Simoncelli’s family. ”

25 MAVERICK VIÑALES (1º, 40´34.280): “ We did a great job. I am very happy. It was really difficult as the whole pack was riding quite fast and above all it was very hot. We chose different tires – wider and harder – and this choice enabled me to win the race because I rode as fast I could on the final lap whereas the others were experiencing problems. On the contrary the beginning was difficult and I had a make a tremendous effort to catch up to the fronrunners over the first few laps. Everything ran smoothly I made the best start of the whole season and the bike was very competitive. The whole team did a great job. Getting back on the podium with a win is like a dream. Now I am really enjoying this victory but we have to remain focus on the next round in Valencia and try to round off a good season.”

28 JOSEP RODRÍGUEZ (14º, +1´08.099): “I am satisfied because I managed to finish the race and earn some points which was my objective. I experienced problems this weekend which didn’t allow me to ride as much as I wanted to and I couldn’t make the appropriate adjustments. In spite of it all I rode in a pack from the twelfth to the sixteenth position and we had a great battle. Fortunately the engine worked really fine – although I didn’t have time to adjust the chassis the way I wanted to – and this enabled me to ride among this pack I told you about earlier on. The next round will take place in Valencia which is a track I know and I hope to finish off the year with a good result.“
