Espargaró fastest Spaniard in Moto2 on first day at Valencia
Pol Espargaró was the fastest Spaniard in the Moto2 class on the first day of practice for the Grand Prix of Valencia, with the 17th position, 1.7 seconds behind Alex de Angelis.
The two free practice sessions have been held in wet conditions and saw quite a few crashes, but none for the rider of the HP Tuenti Racing team, who has been improving his laptimes throughout the sessions.
Polyccio has taken a clear step forward also riding in the wet, evident by the ten positions he moved up in the classification compared to the last time he had a practice in the rain.
17. Pol Espargaró, 1.53’751
“It was a difficult day because of the rain and I take away the progress we’ve made with each lap. The confidence I have with the bike in the dry helped me on the wet track, although obviously there are riders who do better in these conditions because they have more experience. I hope the weather improves tomorrow and that on Sunday we have a calm race, but if not we will have to adapt and try to score as many points as possible to move up some positions in the overall standings.”
