Pol Espargaró has been remarkable in a very difficult race at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, which was marked by intermittent rain and the difficulty to manage the conditions. The HP Tuenti Racing rider was riding in seventh, a position that would have meant an overall top nine finish in the championship, but in the final laps with a completely wet track he dropped to 13th place to finish in the season in the same overall position in the intermediate category. Polyccio clocked the second-fastest lap of the race, being one of the best in the dry, but the constantly changing conditions had an effect on him and relegated him to positions further behind.

Pol Espargaró will start the 2012 preseason tomorrow at the Valencia circuit with, testing the prototype of next year.

“I finished my first season in the Moto2 championship with a very complicated and dangerous race, as we were all going out with slick tyres and there was intermittent rain. This made it difficult to get a good rhythm, because first and foremost you take care not to crash. Under these conditions I’ve given the maximum and I arrived in seventh, a position which would have given me enough points to finish the year in ninth, but in the last laps it began to rain again and I preferred to finish instead of risking a possible crash. There are moments when it’s worth the risk, but today the track conditions were not for that.
I finish my first year in Moto2 below my expectations in terms of results, but with the satisfaction of having learned and having accumulated enough experience to be with the best next year.”
