Olivé makes painful struggle to 26th as team bids farewell to Moto2
The Aeroport de Castelló Team bids farewell to the World Championship, with a discreet performance of their rider Joan Olivé who hasn’t recovered from his injury on the right foot after his crash on Friday.
Today was marked by uncertainty on the grid before the start of the race, caused by some light rain which put all teams on the edge to find out if the Grand Prix would start as a wet race.
Finally the light rain was no reason for any change and the race took place under conditions which left the Valencian track quite slippery and the riders had to take extra precautions to finish the race.
Joan Olivé: “Today was perfect to take some risks and get a good result, but nothing went as I imagined. The problem I had with the foot and then the temperature of the tyres made it impossible for me to go faster. I want to say Goodbye to my team and thank them all for the opportunity they gave to me and I feel bad for not being able to get a good result to say Goodbye. It is a shame that a team like this will not continue next year. Getting professionals together here is possible only with people like Alex Debon. Teams like this make the difference in the paddock.”
