Dani Pedrosa Blog: Thinking about the coming season
As I said last week the weekend in Cheste was going to be something special. A mix of sensations after what happened in Malaysia, the end of the season, racing at home… In summary, mixed emotions. The weather did not help us and made things complicated for us in Cheste.
It was good battling it out with Dovizioso during the first part of the race. He is a fast rider and difficult to get past in a duel. It is true that we had a good pace in that part of the race and we were in the mix, but the weather complicated things, in the rain I decided not to take any risks because the track surface was getting slippery.
It has not been as successful a season as we had hoped, but from now on we will try and work on what we did wrong so that next year is better than this one. The truth is that we began the season quite well, with good races and winning in Portugal. But my fall in France broke the good run and from then on we were in a different championship.
Having four races without any points meant that we were out of the fight for the title, even more so because of Casey´s great form. So since Italy we have been taking each race as it comes, trying to be on the podium and winning races. Now is the time to make a note of our mistakes and try to correct them for next season.
Tomorrow and Wednesday we will be testing on the 1 000cc bike and we will try to take the best advantage to make improvements and adapt to the new machine that we will ride next year. Moreover, it is the first time that we will have references of how the other teams are doing and that is also something important, this means we will know exactly where we are. I hope the weather gives us a break so that we can take good advantage of the two days that we have.
Before saying farewell I would like to thank you all for the support you have given me during another season. You are brilliant and your encouragement is always important if I am to make progress, at both good and bad times. I would also like to congratulate the whole team and my companions for the great season they have had.
Regards
Dani
