Salom & De Puniet fastest on first day of private test at Valencia
As it is a private test there was no official timing and laptimes were provided by the teams. According to those laptimes Randy De Puniet was the fastest of the three present CRT riders with Aspar teammate Aleix Espargaró second-fastest and new MotoGP rider Mattia Pasini the third in line.
Aleix Espargaró 1.36.70 (47 laps): “I am very happy because I enjoyed it very much, it is the first time I tried the CRT, I expected a lot of power and that is precisely what I found. On the other hand I did not expect such a flexible and manageable chassis, I was pleasantly surprised. I must admit that the first impression with this new bike has been great. There had been some difficulties with the new tyres and personally I found a bike that has a lot of grip. Today I met all members of my team, they form a great crew and they have given me a warm welcome, which is important to me. Today we worked mainly in the electronics, traction control and the anti-wheelie. From eleven until four we were improving a lot, I think we’ve found a good base. Tomorrow we’ll get into detail with the chassis to try to get better performance.”
Among the present Moto3 riders things were a little more close and Spaniards Luis Salom and Alberto Moncayo were merely separated by a tenth.
Testing at Valencia will conclude tomorrow.
