Marquez forced to sit out first Moto2 test of the season

 In Moto2, News

Marc Márquez, the runner-up in last year’s Moto2 World Championship, has postponed his first ride of 2012 until a later date. He had originally been scheduled to take part in the test from 8th to 10th February at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, but has now elected to sit out the visit to Valencia in order to continue his recovery from eye surgery.

The Repsol rider’s condition continues to improve after the operation at the Instituto Oftalmológico, the eye surgery department of the Barcelona Hospital Clínic, in January. It was carried out in order to correct the double vision problem from which he had been suffering since his crash in practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix in October 2011.

Márquez is expected to be back on track in the near future, but has preferred to be cautious and chose in favour of his health by skipping the Valencia test.
