Jorge Lorenzo took part last weekend in one of his occasional forays in the world of racing on four wheels, this time in the Gseries BPA for the final round of the Spanish ice racing championship, held at the Grandvalira Circuit de Pas de la Casa in Andorra. Last year fellow MotoGP rider Toni Elias also took part in a race of the GSeries BPA series.

Yamaha Factory Racing rider Lorenzo drove a Peugeot Evo III sporting the number 6, and after a somewhat cautious start on the snow covered track, picked up the pace to land in 14th position.

Ice and snow was a radically different surface from what Lorenzo will be riding on within one week, when the MotoGP™ paddock heads to the Sepang circuit in Malaysia for the second Official pre-season Test of 2012. The Spaniard is not the first Grand Prix star who has participated in the GSeries BPA, in other rounds riders such as Toni Elias and Aleix Espargaró have tested their skills on ice.

GSeries BPA regular, David Arroyo (Peugeot EvoII) won the race, his first overall win in the GSeries BPA, while Ferran Font (Ford RS G-BPA) finished second and took his first title in this championship.
